Book Review on 'Born to Run' by Micheal Morpurgo

'The book i am reviewing is 'Born to Run' and it is about a type of dog called a greyhound. The greyhound in this book has lots of different lives. At the begining of the story there is a character called Patrick who is a young boy who has a mind of his own. One morning Patrick is walking to school by the canal. He is not very happy about going to school, and feels that non of the teachers like him. Suddenly he spots a blue plastic bag bobbing up and down in the water and realises that there is something alive in the bag. Bravley, Patrick jumps into the water to save whatever is in danger. It turns out that inside the bag is a bunch of new born greyound puppies! Patrick climbs out of the canal and sees the annoying Mr Boots (the lolly pop man) scurring towards him. They both make there way to school and find that Mr Brightwell is very pleased with Patrick indeed.
After being interviewed by everyone and drying off Patrik tells his Mum and Dad that he wants to take one of the puppies home. At first they disagree but in the end they give in and Patrick has a new pet named Best Mate.
When Best Mate is older he and Patrick are in the park one evening. Best Mate runs off but doesn't come back. They can't find him after searching everywhere.

This is where Best Mate's new life begins. It turns out that he has been kidnaped by Mr. Boots and another man. Best Mate now has a new owner, Beckey. Beckey is a young girl about 15 and she lives with her mum and her horrid step father. Her step father has racing dogs and treats them awfully so that they win races. A new dog comes in and Beckey calls it Brighteyes. After their life in racing Craig (the horrid step father) tells Beckey and her mum that the dogs go to a lovely home but when Beckey finds out the truth she is determined not to let this happen to Brighteyes. In the end she runs away with Brighteyes and they go on a journey together.
Will they find a destination in the end?

The Daily Mail said 'Pitch perfect ... even this hardened book reviewer kept having to wipe away the tears.'
I would rate this book 4 or 5 stars out of 5 because you really go on a journey with this dog and you really feel what all the characters are going through.

Book Review on 'Once' by Morris Gleitzman

This book is about a young boy and is set in war time.At the begining he is at an orphanage run by nuns. His parents, who were book sellers and were very fond of books, put him there so he was safe from the nazis. He was pretending to be catholic. One day he was looking out the window and he sees some strange men burning books. He couldn't believe his eyes. Then he had a great (and exciting) idea. He decided to go and save his parents and the books that are being burnt. On his journey he saves a girl from a burning house and they get caught up in the crowds. They end up in hiding. Then, the harsh nazis put then on a mysterious train and they don't know what there destination is...
Can they escape???

I really enjoyed this book and even thought it was sad at times. I would recommend this book to years 9 and over, boys and girls but younger people may also enjoy it.I would rate this book 4.5 out of 5 for an excellent story.

My Book Review on 'The Mysteries Collection' by Enid Blyton

The book I am reviewing is called The Mysteries Collection and it has three stories in one. The first story is called The Mystery of the Spiteful Letters, the second is called The Mystery of the Missing Necklace and the last is called The Mystery of the Hidden House.
The story I am going to be talking about is The Mystery of the Spiteful Letters.
Pip, Bets, Daisy, Larry and Fatty (and the dog Buster) all work together to solve the mystery. Mr Goon is the local police man in the village and he is always determined to solve the case before the children do.
Someone has been sending horrid letters to people around the village. The Five Finder-Outers have to find lots of clues to solve the mystery. Will they or will Mr Goon unravel the mystery first? Or will the five be doomed to a summer of boredom?
I would rate this book 4 out of 5. It is extremely exciting and i didn't want to put it down!
